Arabic hadith text
وَعَنْهُ قَالَ: { كَانَ اَلنَّبِيُّ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -يَجْمَعُ بَيْنَ اَلرَّجُلَيْنِ مِنْ قَتْلَى أُحَدٍ فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ, ثُمَّ يَقُولُ: "أَيُّهُمْ أَكْثَرُ أَخْذًا لِلْقُرْآنِ?", فَيُقَدِّمُهُ فِي اَللَّحْدِ, وَلَمْ يُغَسَّلُوا, وَلَمْ يُصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمْ } رَوَاهُ اَلْبُخَارِيُّ 1 .1 - صحيح. رواه البخاري (1343).
Translation
Jabir reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would place two of the martyrs of Uhud in one shroud. He would ask, Which of them had learned more of the Quran? Then he would place that one first in the grave. They were not washed, nor was the funeral prayer offered over them. Reported by al-Bukhari.
Al-Bukhari (1343) graded it sahih.
