Bulugh al-Maram 1376
Arabic hadith text
وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ - رضى الله عنه - قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -{ " يَمِينُكَ عَلَى مَا يُصَدِّقُكَ بِهِ صَاحِبُكَ" } وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ: { "اَلْيَمِينُ عَلَى نِيَّةِ اَلْمُسْتَحْلِفِ" } أَخْرَجَهُمَا مُسْلِمٌ 1 .1 - صحيح رواه مسلم ( 1653 ).
Translation
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said: ‘Your oath is according to what your companion confirms you in.’ Another wording says: ‘The oath is according to the intention of the person who asks for the oath.’ Muslim transmitted both versions. It is authentic; Muslim transmitted it (1653).
