Arabic hadith text
وَعَنْ اِبْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: { اِسْتَفْتَى سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ - رضى الله عنه - رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -فِي نَذْرٍ كَانَ عَلَى أُمِّهِ, تُوُفِّيَتْ قَبْلِ أَنْ تَقْضِيَهُ ? فَقَالَ: "اِقْضِهِ عَنْهَا" } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ 1 .1 - . صحيح. رواه البخاري ( 2761 )، ومسلم ( 1638 ).
Translation
Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported: Sa‘d ibn Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) about a vow his mother had made, but she died before fulfilling it. He replied, ‘Fulfill it on her behalf.’ They agreed upon it. It is authentic; al-Bukhari transmitted it (2761), and Muslim (1638).
