The Book of Prayer
كتاب الصلاة
وَعَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا { أَنَّهَا أَخْرَجَتْ جُبَّةَ رَسُولِ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -مَكْفُوفَةَ اَلْجَيْبِ وَالْكُمَّيْنِ وَالْفَرْجَيْنِ, بِالدِّيبَاجِ } رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ 1 .1 - حسن. رواه أبو داود (4054).
Translation
Narrated Asma' bint Abu Bakr (RA)
She brought out the mantle (over-garment) of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)) with it's collar, sleeves, front and back hemmed with brocade (silk).[Abu Dawud reported it].
وَأَصْلُهُ فِي"مُسْلِمٍ", وَزَادَ: { كَانَتْ عِنْدَ عَائِشَةَ حَتَّى قُبِضَتْ, فَقَبَضْتُهَا, وَكَانَ اَلنَّبِيُّ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -يَلْبَسُهَا, فَنَحْنُ نَغْسِلُهَا لِلْمَرْضَى نَسْتَشْفِي بِهَا } 1 .1 - حسن. وهو عند مسلم (3/1641) وعنده: "يستشفى".
Translation
Its basic meaning is in Muslim's Sahih with the addition
"It was with 'Aishah (RA) till she died, then I took possession of it. The Prophet (ﷺ) used to wear it, and we wash it for the sick, seeking cure by means of it."
وَزَادَ اَلْبُخَارِيُّ فِي"اَلْأَدَبِ اَلْمُفْرَدِ". { وَكَانَ يَلْبَسُهَا لِلْوَفْدِ وَالْجُمُعَةِ } 1 .1 - حسن. رواه البخاري في "الأدب المفرد" ص (127-128/رقم 348).
Translation
al-Bukhari added in Adab al-Mufrad
"He [the Prophet (ﷺ)] used to wear it on the visit of a delegation and on Fridays."
