Bulugh al-Maram 150
وَعَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: { كَانَتِ اَلنُّفَسَاءُ تَقْعُدُ فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -بَعْدَ نِفَاسِهَا أَرْبَعِينَ } رَوَاهُ اَلْخَمْسَةُ إِلَّا النَّسَائِيَّ, وَاللَّفْظُ لِأَبِي دَاوُد َ 1 .1 - ضعيف. رواه أبو داود (311)، والترمذي (139)، وابن ماجه (648)، وأحمد (6/300) وقال الترمذي: "غريب".

Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: “During the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), women experiencing postpartum bleeding would refrain for forty days after giving birth.”
[Grading and sources:] Weak. Reported by Abu Dawud (311), al-Tirmidhi (139), Ibn Majah (648), and Ahmad (6/300). Al-Tirmidhi called it gharib. The main text says it was reported by the Five except al-Nasaʾi, with the wording of Abu Dawud.
