Ahmad and al-Daraqutni added: ‘Bring me something other than it.’ 1 — It was reported by Ahmad (1/450) and al-Daraqutni (1/55), and this wording is al-Daraqutni's. Ahmad's wording is: ‘Bring me a stone.’ This is a sound addition.

ائْتِنِي بِغَيْرِهَا
The witness supplies ‘other than dung’ in parentheses. The Arabic literally says ‘bring me something other than it’; the referent can be understood from the preceding report but is not repeated here.
Should the witness's parenthetical referent be treated as an explanatory gloss?
