حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَادَةَ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ الْوَاسِطِيَّانِ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَنْبَأَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ، عَنْ مُهَاجِرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ ‏ "‏ مَنْ لَبِسَ ثَوْبَ شُهْرَةٍ أَلْبَسَهُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ثَوْبَ مَذَلَّةٍ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Translation

Muḥammad ibn ʿAbādah and Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Malik, the two men from Wāsiṭ, said: Yazīd ibn Hārūn narrated to us; Sharīk informed us, from ʿUthmān ibn Abī Zurʿah, from Muhājir, from Ibn ʿUmar, who said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “Whoever wears a garment of notoriety, Allah will clothe him on the Day of Resurrection in a garment of humiliation.”
