Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، وَسُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُقْبَةَ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ وَائِلِ بْنِ حُجْرٍ، قَالَ رَآنِيَ النَّبِيُّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ وَلِي شَعَرٌ طَوِيلٌ فَقَالَ " ذُبَابٌ ذُبَابٌ " . فَانْطَلَقْتُ فَأَخَذْتُهُ فَرَآنِيَ النَّبِيُّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ فَقَالَ " إِنِّي لَمْ أَعْنِكَ وَهَذَا أَحْسَنُ "
Translation
It wasnarrated that Wa’il bin Hujr said
“The Prophet (ﷺ) saw mewhenI had long hair. He said: ‘Bad news, bad news!’ So I went awayand cut it short. Then the Prophet (ﷺ) saw me and said: ‘I didnotmean you, but this is better.’”
