Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَنْبَأَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ حُصَيْنِ بْنِ قَبِيصَةَ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ " يَا سُفْيَانَ بْنَ سَهْلٍ لاَ تُسْبِلْ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يُحِبُّ الْمُسْبِلِينَ " .
Translation
Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah narrated to us; Yazīd ibn Hārūn narrated to us; Sharīk informed us, from ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿUmayr, from Ḥuṣayn ibn Qabīṣah, from al-Mughīrah ibn Shuʿbah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, “Sufyān ibn Sahl, do not let your garment trail, for Allah does not love those who let their garments trail.”
