Hishām ibn ʿAmmār, Abū Muṣʿab al-Zuhrī, and Suwayd ibn Saʿīd narrated to us, all saying: Mālik ibn Anas narrated to us, from Sumayy, the client of Abū Bakr ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, from Abū Ṣāliḥ al-Sammān, from Abū Hurayrah, that the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Travel is a portion of punishment: it deprives one of you of sleep, food, and drink. When one of you has completed what he needs from his journey, let him hasten back to his family.” Yaʿqūb ibn Ḥumayd ibn Kāsib narrated to us: ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Muḥammad narrated to us, from Suhayl, from his father, from Abū Hurayrah, from the Prophet, a similar report.
