Sunan Ibn Majah 2909

ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ibrāhīm al-Dimashqī narrated to us: al-Walīd ibn Muslim narrated to us: al-Awzāʿī narrated to us, from al-Zuhrī, from Sulaymān ibn Yasār, from Ibn ʿAbbās, from his brother al-Faḍl, who was riding behind the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, on the morning of the Day of Sacrifice. A woman from Khathʿam came to him and said: “Messenger of God, the obligation of ḥajj imposed by God upon His servants became due for my father when he was already an aged man, unable to ride. May I perform ḥajj on his behalf?” He said: “Yes, for if your father owed a debt, you would pay it on his behalf.”
