حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَعْلَى، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أَبِي أَوْفَى، يَقُولُ كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ حِينَ اعْتَمَرَ فَطَافَ وَطُفْنَا مَعَهُ وَصَلَّى وَصَلَّيْنَا مَعَهُ وَكُنَّا نَسْتُرُهُ مِنْ أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ لاَ يُصِيبُهُ أَحَدٌ بِشَىْءٍ ‏.‏

Translation

Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Numayr narrated to us: Yaʿlā narrated to us: Ismāʿīl narrated to us. I heard ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Awfā say: We were with the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) when he performed an ʿumrah. He circumambulated, and we circumambulated with him; he prayed, and we prayed with him. We shielded him from the people of Makkah so that no one could harm him.
