Translation

ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad narrated to us: Wakīʿ narrated to us, from al-Masʿūdī, from Jāmiʿ ibn Shaddād, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Yazīd, who said: When ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd came to the Jamrat al-ʿAqabah, he went down into the valley and faced the Kaʿbah, placing the Jamrah to his right eyebrow. Then he threw seven pebbles, saying “God is greatest” with each pebble. Then he said, “By the One besides whom there is no god, from this very place the one to whom Sūrat al-Baqarah was revealed threw [the pebbles].”
