Sunan Ibn Majah 3075

Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah narrated to us: Muḥammad ibn Bishr al-ʿAbdī narrated to us, from Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr: Yaḥyā ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ḥāṭib told me, from ʿĀʾishah, who said: We set out with the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) for Hajj in three different groups. Some of us entered the consecrated state for Hajj and ʿumrah together; some entered it for Hajj alone; and some entered it for ʿumrah alone. Whoever entered the state for Hajj and ʿumrah together did not leave the consecrated state or any of its restrictions until completing the rites of Hajj. Whoever entered the state for Hajj alone likewise did not leave the consecrated state or any of its restrictions until completing the rites of Hajj. Whoever entered the state for ʿumrah alone, then circumambulated the House and performed saʿy between al-Ṣafā and al-Marwah, became free of its restrictions until entering the consecrated state for Hajj.
