Sunan Ibn Majah 2905

Hishām ibn ʿAmmār narrated to us: al-Walīd ibn Muslim narrated to us: ʿUthmān ibn ʿAṭāʾ narrated to us, from his father, from Abū al-Ghawth ibn Ḥuṣayn, a man from al-Furʿ, who sought a ruling from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, about the obligation of ḥajj that rested on his father, who had died without performing it. The Prophet said: “Perform ḥajj on behalf of your father.” The Prophet also said: “The same applies to a fast vowed by someone: it is made up on his behalf.”
