حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ الدَّسْتَوَائِيِّ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَسَّانَ الأَعْرَجِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ أَشْعَرَ الْهَدْىَ فِي السَّنَامِ الأَيْمَنِ وَأَمَاطَ عَنْهُ الدَّمَ ‏.‏ وَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ فِي حَدِيثِهِ بِذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ وَقَلَّدَ نَعْلَيْنِ ‏.‏

Translation

Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah and ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad narrated to us; they said: Wakīʿ narrated to us, from Hishām al-Dastawāʾī, from Qatādah, from Abū Ḥassān al-Aʿraj, from Ibn ʿAbbās, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) marked the sacrificial animal on its right hump and wiped the blood away from it. In his version of the report, ʿAlī said: This was at Dhū al-Ḥulayfah, and he garlanded it with two sandals.
