Ibn ʿAbbās reported: The Prophet ﷺ visited a man and asked him, ‘What do you desire?’ He replied, ‘I desire wheat bread.’ The Prophet ﷺ said, ‘Whoever has wheat bread should send some to his brother.’ Then the Prophet ﷺ said, ‘If a sick person among you desires something, let him be given it to eat.’

Notes and open questions — unreviewed
  • The first statement refers to the sick man the Prophet ﷺ was visiting; the closing instruction generalizes to a sick person among the listeners.

  • The bread is specifically made from wheat (burr), not barley.
