Sunan Ibn Majah 3154

Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah narrated to us: ʿAbd al-Aʿlā narrated to us, from Khālid al-Ḥadhdhāʾ, from Abū Qilābah, from Abū Zayd. Abū Bakr said: Others besides ʿAbd al-Aʿlā reported it from ʿAmr ibn Bujdān, from Abū Zayd. [Another chain:] Muḥammad ibn al-Muthannā Abū Mūsā narrated to us: ʿAbd al-Ṣamad ibn ʿAbd al-Wārith narrated to us: my father narrated to us, from Khālid al-Ḥadhdhāʾ, from Abū Qilābah, from ʿAmr ibn Bujdān, from Abū Zayd al-Anṣārī, who said: The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a house belonging to the Anṣār and smelled roasting meat. He said: Who has slaughtered? One of our men came out to him and said: I did, Messenger of God; I slaughtered before praying so I could feed my family and neighbors. He told him to slaughter another. The man said: No, by God, besides whom there is no god, I have nothing except a yearling or a lamb from among the sheep. He said: Slaughter it, but a yearling will not suffice for anyone after you.
