Hishām ibn ʿAmmār narrated to us: Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAyyāsh narrated to us: Ibn ʿAwn narrated to us, from Muḥammad ibn Sīrīn, who said: I asked Ibn ʿUmar whether sacrificial offerings were obligatory. He said: The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) offered sacrifices, and the Muslims after him did so, and this became the established Sunnah. [A second chain:] Hishām ibn ʿAmmār narrated to us: Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAyyāsh narrated to us: al-Ḥajjāj ibn Arṭāʾ narrated to us: Jabalāh ibn Suḥaym narrated to us, who said: I asked Ibn ʿUmar, and he mentioned the same report exactly.
