Sunan Ibn Majah 3139
Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي يَحْيَى، - مَوْلَى الأَسْلَمِيِّينَ - عَنْ أُمِّهِ، قَالَتْ حَدَّثَتْنِي أُمُّ بِلاَلٍ بِنْتُ هِلاَلٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهَا، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ قَالَ " يَجُوزُ الْجَذَعُ مِنَ الضَّأْنِ أُضْحِيَّةً " .
Translation
ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ibrāhīm al-Dimashqī narrated to us: Anas ibn ʿIyāḍ narrated to us: Muḥammad ibn Abī Yaḥyā—the client of the Aslam tribe—told me, from his mother, who said: Umm Bilāl bint Hilāl told me, from her father, that the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “A young sheep may be offered as a sacrifice.”
