Sunan Ibn Majah 2749
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ، أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ نَافِعًا، يُخْبِرُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " مَا كَانَ مِنْ مِيرَاثٍ قُسِمَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَهُوَ عَلَى قِسْمَةِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ وَمَا كَانَ مِنْ مِيرَاثٍ أَدْرَكَهُ الإِسْلاَمُ فَهُوَ عَلَى قِسْمَةِ الإِسْلاَمِ " .

Muḥammad ibn Rumḥ informed us: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Lahīʿah informed us, from ʿUqayl, who heard Nāfiʿ relate from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar that the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Any inheritance divided in the pre-Islamic period remains according to the division of that period, and any inheritance reached by Islam is according to the division of Islam.”
