Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Numayr narrated to us; Abu Bakr ibn Ayyash narrated to us, from Yazid ibn Abi Ziyad, from Miqsam, from Ibn Abbas, who said: ‘On the Day of Uhud, they were brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he began performing the funeral prayer over them ten at a time. As for Hamzah, he was as he was; they would raise him, while he remained as he had been laid.’

Notes and open questions — unreviewed
  • The final clause about Hamzah is left close to the Arabic pending clarification; the source wording does not make the sequence or contrast clear.

  • وَحَمْزَةُ هُوَ كَمَا هُوَ يُرْفَعُونَ وَهُوَ كَمَا هُوَ مَوْضُوعٌ

The clause shifts from Hamzah to a plural verb (‘they raise’) and then describes him as he was placed, leaving unclear who is raised and how this relates to the funeral prayers in groups of ten.

What is the intended sequence and referent of ‘they raise’ in this clause?
