Sunan Ibn Majah 1527
Offering the funeral prayer at the grave
Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ، أَنْبَأَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، . أَنَّ امْرَأَةً، سَوْدَاءَ كَانَتْ تَقُمُّ الْمَسْجِدَ فَفَقَدَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ فَسَأَلَ عَنْهَا بَعْدَ أَيَّامٍ فَقِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّهَا مَاتَتْ . قَالَ " فَهَلاَّ آذَنْتُمُونِي " . فَأَتَى قَبْرَهَا فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهَا .
Translation
It wasnarrated from Abu Hurairah that a black woman used to sweepthemosque. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) noticed she was missing andheasked about her after a few days. He was told that she had died. Hesaid
“Why did you not tell me?” Then he went to her grave andofferedthe funeral prayer for her.
