What was narrated concerning the reward for the one who offers the funeral prayer and the one who waits until the burial Sunan Ibn Majah 1539
Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الأَعْلَى، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ قَالَ " مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَى جِنَازَةٍ فَلَهُ قِيرَاطٌ وَمَنِ انْتَظَرَ حَتَّى يُفْرَغَ مِنْهَا فَلَهُ قِيرَاطَانِ " . قَالُوا وَمَا الْقِيرَاطَانِ قَالَ " مِثْلُ الْجَبَلَيْنِ "
Translation
It wasnarrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (ﷺ) said
“Whoeveroffers the funeral prayer will have one Qirat and whoeverawaitsuntil (the burial) is finished will have two Qirat.” They said:‘What are these two Qirat?’ He said: ‘Like two mountains.’”
