Sunan Ibn Majah 1550

Hisham ibn Ammar narrated to us; Isma‘il ibn Ayyash narrated to us, from Layth ibn Abi Sulaym, from Nafi‘, from Ibn Umar, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). And Abdullah ibn Sa‘id narrated to us; Abu Khalid al-Ahmar narrated to us; al-Hajjaj narrated to us, from Nafi‘, from Ibn Umar, who said: ‘When the deceased was placed in the grave, the Prophet would say, “In the name of Allah and according to the way of the Messenger of Allah.”’ Abu Khalid said that on one occasion the wording was, ‘In the name of Allah and according to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah.’ Hisham’s report has the wording, ‘In the name of Allah, in the path of Allah, and according to the way of the Messenger of Allah.’
