Sunan Ibn Majah 1619
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ يَتَعَوَّذُ بِهَؤُلاَءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ " أَذْهِبِ الْبَاسَ رَبَّ النَّاسِ . وَاشْفِ أَنْتَ الشَّافِي لاَ شِفَاءَ إِلاَّ شِفَاؤُكَ شِفَاءً لاَ يُغَادِرُ سَقَمًا " . فَلَمَّا ثَقُلَ النَّبِيُّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ فِي مَرَضِهِ الَّذِي مَاتَ فِيهِ أَخَذْتُ بِيَدِهِ فَجَعَلْتُ أَمْسَحُهُ وَأَقُولُهَا . فَنَزَعَ يَدَهُ مِنْ يَدِي ثُمَّ قَالَ: " اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالرَّفِيقِ الأَعْلَى " . قَالَتْ: فَكَانَ هَذَا آخِرَ مَا سَمِعْتُ مِنْ كَلاَمِهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ .

Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us; Abu Muawiyah narrated to us, from al-A‘mash, from Muslim, from Masruq, from Aishah, who said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to seek refuge with these words: ‘Remove the affliction, Lord of mankind, and heal; You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing, a healing that leaves no illness.’ When the Prophet’s illness in which he died became severe, I took his hand and began wiping him with it while saying those words. He withdrew his hand from mine, then said: ‘O Allah, forgive me and join me with the Highest Companion.’ She said: That was the last of his speech that I heard from him (peace and blessings be upon him).

The phrase al-Rafiq al-A‘la is rendered ‘the Highest Companion,’ preserving the devotional expression.
