Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us; al-Husayn ibn Ali narrated to us, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Yazid ibn Jabir, from Abu al-Ash‘ath al-San‘ani, from Aws ibn Aws, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘Among your best days is Friday. On it Adam was created, and on it are the blowing and the blast. So send abundant blessings upon me on that day, for your blessings are presented to me.’ A man said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, how will our blessings be presented to you when you have decayed?’—meaning, ‘when you have become dust.’ He said: ‘Allah has forbidden the earth to consume the bodies of the Prophets.’

Notes and open questions — unreviewed
  • The source itself glosses أَرَمْتَ as بَلِيتَ; ‘decayed’ and ‘become dust’ preserve that gloss.

  • ‘Blowing’ and ‘blast’ retain the source’s two event nouns without adding an instrument or further specification.
