Sunan Ibn Majah 1690
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ رَافِعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ " رُبَّ صَائِمٍ لَيْسَ لَهُ مِنْ صِيَامِهِ إِلاَّ الْجُوعُ. وَرُبَّ قَائِمٍ لَيْسَ لَهُ مِنْ قِيَامِهِ إِلاَّ السَّهَرُ " .

Amr ibn Rafi narrated to us; Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, from Usamah ibn Zayd, from Sa‘id al-Maqburi, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘Many a person who fasts gains nothing from his fasting except hunger, and many a person who stands in prayer gains nothing from his standing except wakefulness.’
