Fasting the day of `Ashura’ Sunan Ibn Majah 1733
Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلمـ يَصُومُ عَاشُورَاءَ، وَيَأْمُرُ بِصِيَامِهِ .
Translation
It wasnarrated that ‘Aishah said
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) usedtofast ‘Ashura’, and he ordered (others) to fast it too.”
