حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ " لَوْلاَ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لأَخَّرْتُ صَلاَةَ الْعِشَاءِ إِلَى ثُلُثِ اللَّيْلِ أَوْ نِصْفِ اللَّيْلِ " .

Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us: Abu Usamah and 'Abdullah ibn Numayr narrated to us, from 'Ubaydullah, from Sa'id ibn Abi Sa'id, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘Were it not that I would burden my community, I would delay the 'Isha prayer until a third or a half of the night had passed.’
