حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ عَدِيٍّ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سُوقَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ، قَالَ كَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ إِذَا سَمِعَ مِنْ، رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ حَدِيثًا لَمْ يَعْدُهُ وَلَمْ يُقَصِّرْ دُونَهُ .

Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Numayr narrated to us: Zakariyya ibn Adi narrated to us, from Ibn al-Mubarak, from Muhammad ibn Suqah, from Abu Jafar, who said: Whenever Ibn Umar heard a report from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he did not go beyond it, nor fall short of it.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The Arabic describes Ibn Umar as not exceeding or falling short of a report when he heard it from the Prophet. The English witness similarly conveys that he adhered to it exactly.
