حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، وَعَمْرُو بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ " إِنَّ أَهْلَ الدَّرَجَاتِ الْعُلَى يَرَاهُمْ مَنْ أَسْفَلَ مِنْهُمْ كَمَا يُرَى الْكَوْكَبُ الطَّالِعُ فِي الأُفُقِ مِنْ آفَاقِ السَّمَاءِ وَإِنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ مِنْهُمْ وَأَنْعَمَا " .

'Ali ibn Muhammad and 'Amr ibn 'Abdullah narrated to us; they said: Waki' narrated to us; al-A'mash narrated to us, from 'Atiyyah ibn Sa'd, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The people of the highest ranks will be seen by those below them as a rising star is seen on the horizon of the sky. Abu Bakr and 'Umar are among them—and excellent are they.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The phrase wa-anama is rendered “and excellent are they”; the witness paraphrases it as “how blessed they are.”
