حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْفُضَيْلِ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمَقْبُرِيُّ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ أَنَّهُ قَالَ " لاَ أَعْرِفَنَّ مَا يُحَدَّثُ أَحَدُكُمْ عَنِّي الْحَدِيثَ وَهُوَ مُتَّكِئٌ عَلَى أَرِيكَتِهِ فَيَقُولُ اقْرَأْ قُرْآنًا . مَا قِيلَ مِنْ قَوْلٍ حَسَنٍ فَأَنَا قُلْتُهُ " .

Ali ibn al-Mundhir narrated to us: Muhammad ibn al-Fudayl narrated to us: al-Maqburi narrated to us, from his grandfather, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said: Let me not find any of you being told a report from me while reclining on his couch, then saying: Recite Quran. Any good saying that has been spoken, I have said it.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The Arabic ends with a declaration that every good saying has been spoken by the Prophet. The English witness adds the explanatory bracketed question How can you reject what I have said? which is not in the Arabic, so it is not included.
