حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادِ بْنِ آدَمَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ لِرَجُلٍ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي إِذَا حَدَّثْتُكَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ حَدِيثًا فَلاَ تَضْرِبْ لَهُ الأَمْثَالَ . قَالَ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْكَرَابِيسِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْجَعْدِ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ عَلِيٍّ رضى الله تعالى عنه .

Muhammad ibn Abbad ibn Adam narrated to us: My father narrated to us, from Shubah, from Muhammad ibn Amr, from Abu Salamah, from Abu Hurayrah. (Another chain:) Hannad ibn al-Sarri narrated to us: Abdah ibn Sulayman narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Amr narrated to us, from Abu Salamah, that Abu Hurayrah said to a man: Nephew, when I narrate a report to you from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), do not draw analogies for it. Abu al-Hasan said: Yahya ibn Abdullah al-Karabisi narrated to us: Ali ibn al-Jad narrated to us, from Shubah, from Amr ibn Murrah, with a report like the hadith of Ali, may Allah be pleased with him.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The source includes two parallel chains before Abu Hurayrahs statement and then an additional transmission note from Abu al-Hasan, which compares the report to a hadith of Ali. All are retained. The wording warns against drawing analogies for a Prophetic report.
