Ali ibn Muhammad reported to us: Waki reported to us, from Hammad ibn Salamah, from Thabit, from Anas ibn Malik, who said: The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, ‘I have been persecuted for Allah’s sake as no one else has been, and I have been frightened for Allah’s sake as no one else has been. A third day came upon me when Bilal and I had no food for any living creature to eat except what Bilal’s armpit could conceal.’
