حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي السَّفَرِ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الشَّعْبِيَّ، يَقُولُ جَالَسْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ سَنَةً فَمَا سَمِعْتُهُ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ شَيْئًا .

Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Numayr narrated to us: Abu al-Nadr narrated to us, from Shubah, from Abdullah ibn Abi al-Safar, who said: I heard al-Shabi say: I spent a year in the company of Ibn Umar, and I never heard him narrate anything from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The Arabic explicitly states a full year in Ibn Umars company and that the narrator did not hear him transmit anything from the Prophet during it.
