Muhammad ibn Bashshar narrated to us: Abd al-Rahman narrated to us: Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Said, from al-Saib ibn Yazid, who said: I accompanied Sad ibn Malik from Madinah to Makkah, and I did not hear him narrate a single report from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The Arabic names the Companion as Sad ibn Malik; that form is retained rather than expanded to another name. The report emphasizes that the narrator heard no Prophetic report during their journey from Madinah to Makkah.
