Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah reported to us: Jarir reported to us. Ali ibn Muhammad reported to us: Waki reported to us. Abu Kurayb reported to us: Abu Muawiyah reported to us. All three reported from al-Amash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Said al-Khudri, who said: The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, ‘Do not revile my Companions. By the One in whose hand is my soul, if one of you were to spend gold equal to Mount Uhud, it would not equal even a mudd—or half a mudd—spent by one of them.’

The Arabic transmitter is Abu Said al-Khudri; the English witness incorrectly attributes this report to Abu Hurairah. A mudd is a measure of volume.
