حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلاَنَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ ‏ "‏ كَتَبَ رَبُّكُمْ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ بِيَدِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَ الْخَلْقَ رَحْمَتِي سَبَقَتْ غَضَبِي ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Muhammad ibn Yahya reported to us: Safwan ibn Isa reported to us, from Ibn Ajlan, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, ‘Before creating creation, your Lord wrote with His own hand for Himself: “My mercy precedes My wrath.”’
