Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Numayr and ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad said: Muḥammad ibn Fuḍayl narrated to us: Layth ibn Abī Sulaym narrated to us, from Yaḥyā ibn ʿAbbād Abū Hubayrah al-Anṣārī, from his father, from Zayd ibn Thābit, who said: The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “May God brighten the face of a person who hears my words and conveys them. For perhaps one who carries understanding is not himself learned, and perhaps one carries understanding to someone more learned than he.” ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad added: “There are three things toward which the heart of a Muslim bears no rancor: sincere action for God, sincere counsel to the leaders of the Muslims, and remaining with their community.”
