Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Numayr narrated to us: My father narrated to us, from Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq, from ʿAbd al-Salām, from al-Zuhrī, from Muḥammad ibn Jubayr ibn Muṭʿim, from his father, who said: The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, stood at al-Khayf in Minā and said: “May God brighten the face of a person who hears my words and conveys them. For perhaps one who carries understanding is not himself learned, and perhaps one carries understanding to someone more learned than he.” ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad narrated to us: My maternal uncle Yaʿlā narrated to us. And Hishām ibn ʿAmmār narrated to us: Saʿīd ibn Yaḥyā narrated to us. They both said: Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq narrated to us, from al-Zuhrī, from Muḥammad ibn Jubayr ibn Muṭʿim, from his father, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, with similar wording.
