حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُثْمَانَ الْبُخَارِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الْهَيْثَمُ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ، - أَظُنُّهُ - عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ، قَالَ الإِيمَانُ يَزْدَادُ وَيَنْقُصُ .

Abu 'Uthman al-Bukhari narrated to us; al-Haytham narrated to us; Isma'il narrated to us, from Jarir ibn 'Uthman, from al-Harith—I think—from Mujahid, from Abu al-Darda', who said: Faith increases and decreases.

The Arabic includes the narrator uncertainty “I think” before al-Harith; the English witness omits the chain and that uncertainty.
