Muhammad ibn Yahya reported to us: Ibn al-Tabba‘ reported to us: Ismail ibn Ayyash reported to us, from Ishaq ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Farwah, from Ibrahim ibn Abdullah ibn Hunayn, from his father, from Ali—and from Amr ibn Shuayb, from his father, from his grandfather—who said: A man deliberately and intentionally killed his slave, so the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and grant him peace) flogged him one hundred times, banished him for a year, and erased his share among the Muslims.’
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The Arabic gives two routes (‘from Ali’ and ‘from Amr ibn Shuayb, from his father, from his grandfather’) leading to the report; both are retained.
