Muhammad ibn Bashshar reported to us: Muhammad ibn Ja‘far reported to us. Ishaq ibn Mansur reported to us: al-Nadr ibn Shumayl reported to us; they both said: Shu‘bah reported to us, from Hisham ibn Zayd, from Anas ibn Malik: A Jewish man killed a young woman over some silver ornaments. He asked her, ‘Did so-and-so kill you?’ She shook her head to say no. He asked her a second time, and she again shook her head to say no. He asked her a third time, and she nodded yes. The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and grant him peace) then killed him between two stones.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The Arabic says her head gesture was no twice and yes on the third question; the witness’s timeline is preserved.
