Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah reported to us: Abdullah ibn Numayr reported to us, from Yazid ibn Abi Ziyad, who said: Jami ibn Shaddad reported to us, from Tariq al-Muharibi, who said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and grant him peace) raise his hands until I saw the whiteness of his armpits, saying, ‘No mother bears liability for her child! No mother bears liability for her child!’
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The Arabic repeats the phrase twice and speaks of a mother’s liability for her child; it does not say ‘punished’ as in the English witness.
