Ibrahim ibn al-Mundhir narrated to us: Ibn Abi Fudayk narrated to us: Said ibn Sufyan—the client of the Aslamites—narrated to us, from Jafar ibn Muhammad, from his father, from Abdullah ibn Jafar, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Allah is with the debtor until he repays his debt, so long as it is not for something Allah dislikes.” Abdullah ibn Jafar would say to his treasurer, “Go and obtain a loan for me, for I dislike to spend a night without Allah being with me, in light of what I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.”
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The full Arabic includes a biographical note identifying Said ibn Sufyan as a client of the Aslamites and a report about Abdullah ibn Jafar borrowing in response. The English witness renders الدائن as “borrower”; the Arabic context and following explanation refer to the person in debt, which is translated as debtor.
