Translation

Unreviewed translation. All hadiths in this collection are available in five languages. Titles and introductions may remain in Arabic.

Muhammad ibn Khalaf al-Asqalani and Muhammad ibn Yahya both narrated to us: Ibn Abi Maryam narrated to us: Yahya ibn Ayyub narrated to us, from Ubaydullah ibn Abi Jafar, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar and Aishah, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Whoever seeks a right should seek it with dignity and restraint, whether the amount is ample or not.”

  • The Arabic chain includes two Companions. The phrase عفاف وافر أو غير وافر is compressed and ambiguous; the English witness glosses it as doing so as much as one can. The translation preserves the apparent contrast between a full and lesser amount.
