Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us: Affan narrated to us: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us: Abd al-Malik, Abu Jafar, informed me, from Abu Nadhrah, from Sad ibn al-Atwal, that his brother died leaving three hundred dirhams and dependents. Sad wanted to spend the money on his brother dependents, but the Prophet ﷺ said, “Your brother is held back by his debt, so pay it on his behalf.” He said, “Messenger of Allah, I have paid it all except for two dinars claimed by a woman who has no proof.” He said, “Give them to her, for she is in the right.”
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The Arabic gives the estate as three hundred dirhams but the disputed remaining claim as two dinars; both units and amounts are retained as written. The woman is said to lack proof, yet the Prophet directs payment and affirms her claim.
