حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْجَهْمِ الأَنْمَاطِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ سُوَيْدٍ، عَنِ الْمُثَنَّى، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " مَنْ أُودِعَ وَدِيعَةً فَلاَ ضَمَانَ عَلَيْهِ " .

Ubaydullah ibn al-Jahm al-Anmati narrated to us: Ayyub ibn Suwayd narrated to us, from al-Muthanna, from Amr ibn Shuaib, from his father, from his grandfather, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Whoever is entrusted with a deposit bears no liability for it.”
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The transmitter is identified only as al-Muthanna here. The English witness adds an exception for negligence; the Arabic wording in this block states the no-liability rule without that express qualification.
