Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us; Haywah ibn Shurayh al-Hadrami narrated to us, from Damrah ibn Rabiʿah, from Ibn ʿAtaʾ, from his father, from ʿAmr ibn Shuʿayb, from his father, from his grandfather, that the Prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: ‘There are four categories of women between whom liʿan does not take place: a Christian woman married to a Muslim man, a Jewish woman married to a Muslim man, a free woman married to an enslaved man, and an enslaved woman married to a free man.’

The wording لا ملاعنة بينهن is rendered as excluding liʿan in the listed marriage pairings; it does not specify in this sentence which legal conditions are meant.
Does ‘between whom liʿan does not take place’ retain the report’s scope without adding a rationale?
